TELLING THE STORY OF PLASTIC IN THE OCEAN WITH PLASTIC FROM THE OCEAN
When we started discussing the music video for Tavana’s song, “Plastic Island Blues,” it was clear that the video should be animated, and if possible with plastic collected from the beaches. When Tavana asked if we could do that, we, without having animated anything longer than a few seconds nor any experience creating characters, said YES! We linked up with our buddy Charles-Antoine Vallieres to create the characters and he and Raja spent more than a handful of nights working away at the video frame by frame.
Charles-Antoine Vallières is a multi-disciplinary artist with an uncanny ability to assemble creatures and scenes from plastic he’s collected on Maui’s beaches — without alteration.
